The former state secretariat building in Johor, known as Bangunan Sultan Ibrahim or the Sultan Ibrahim Building, was built between 1936 and 1939. It represents a perfect blend of Western and Malaysian architectural styles. Once one of the tallest buildings in Johor Bahru before independence, the Sultan Ibrahim Building remains an important historical landmark. The government has plans to convert this grand 60,000-square-foot structure into a royal museum. Famous for its scenic views, impressive architecture, and popular spot for photography, the building is still a government property, requiring visitors to seek permission from the guards before exploring.
